With a central location in Marion County, Pleasantville is near many popular attractions.

Gladys Black Memorial Garden

This beautiful, little garden with a 20-foot chimney swift tower and shelter as a focal point serves as a reminder of this dedicated lady's accomplishments. It is a getaway where one can sit and feel the spirit of Gladys as nature's sounds and sights massage the senses. Located in Cora Shadle Park in Pleasantville.

Red Rock Lake Area

Pleasantville is a short 15 minute drive from Lake Red Rock. The area includes local attractions such as the Red Rock Dam, Red Rock Marina, Visitor Center, and the Cordova Observation Tower and Butterfly Garden.

Knoxville Area

Attractions in the Marion County county seat of Knoxville (20 minutes from Pleasantville) include the Knoxville Raceway, National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum, and the Birthplace of the Iowa Flag.

Pella

Home of several famous landmarks and the Annual Tulip Festival, Pella is a 30 minute drive winding through the beautiful Red Rock Lake Area. Attractions in Pella include Scholte House and Gardens, The Kokkenspel, Pella Opera House, and The Molengracht.

Des Moines Area

A 30 minute drive will take you to the capital city of Des Moines. With many activities - including Taste of Des Moines, and the Iowa State Fair, Des Moines is close enough to visit daily, yet far enough away that Pleasantville residents do not have the worries associated with living in a metropolitan area.
